Production Log - entry 1

I love how the Spice Girls are so different from any other girl band! All pop music, girl bands seem to be exactly the same. What is the difference between Girls Aloud, Sugarbabes, The Saturdays and all of the others? They are all a group of girls, who all dress the same and dance the same and sing the same types of songs about love and betrayal. Admittedly, the Spice Girls do this too, however they stand out from the crowd, due to their alter ego's. The Spice Girl's aren't just made up of Victoria, Emma, Mel B, Geri and Mel C, they are Posh, Baby, Scary, Ginger and Sporty! Each girl is like a character out of a comic or story and in all of their video's, the girls stay in character and allow the character's personality to shine through, making each girl unique and detectable, even though they are all in one group. The alter ego's don't only give each girl an identity, but the whole group in general.

This has inspired me to make the main star on the front cover of my music magazine, Candy. A female singer who will be dressed up in a sweets outfit. This mesmerising outfit will be something similar to Katy Perry in her California Girl's music Video, which will make the magazine cover stand out on the shelves and attract more customers. I think giving a musician an alter ego (e.g. Lady Gaga) makes them more popular as they stand out from every other pop singer on the charts.
