Production Log - entry 13

Today after discussing my draft with my teacher, I went home and took all of the feedback from my draft into consideration and created a plan as to what I need to do in order to create my final product.

To do:

1. Book a studio photo shoot in order to take a photograph that will be used on the front cover.
2. Gather any pictures from concerts in the summer and pick out any that can be used on my contents page
3.Ask to borrow one of the camera's and take pictures of different people in different locations to use on the contents page.
4.Make a mock-up front cover to be used in the subscription box
5. Re-design the sell lines on the front cover - test out different fonts & remove the boxes in order for it to flow better & look more professional
6. Re-read the article to ensure that the spelling and grammar is correct.

Something I could do before next lesson would be to read through the article, therefore I would be using my time more efficiently in class by using the resources such as InDesign that are only available to me at school.

Here is the link to a video of the feedback that I recieved from my peers on the first draft of my Music Magazine. Overall, I think the feedback was very helpful and I will use it to improve my magazine.

Production Log - entry 12

Last week the Golden Globe awards took place.
The Golden Globes are best known for films, however they also appreciate musical talents.
The Nominations for best original song in a motion picture were:

 

As shown in the image above, 'Skyfall' by Adele, recorded for the latest James Bond movie won the award.

Adele is a R&B and Soul singer, which are both sub-genres of Urban music.

In my magazine, I would have to ensure that I keep up with the latest awards that urban artists receive or are nominated for so that I can comment on them in the articles. Also, music magazines need to ensure that they know all of the latest news on artists that they are going to interview for articles to ensure that the information is current and exclusive.

Production Log - entry 11

Recently I have been searching 'Urban music' on the 'news' tab on Google and have found many interesting things that I could include as features on my contents page, that I am currently in the middle of improving.
One of the links I found was for an article on 'The 13 big reasons to be excited about urban music in 2013', which I thought would be a good sell line that I could adapt and use in my magazine as the article is something my target audience would enjoy reading.
Also, the information in the article could be used for article ideas on my contents page too.
